On Wednesday, March 18, Middlesex County officials highlighted emerging transportation technology and safety initiatives during the third annual Middlesex County Transportation Symposium held in New Brunswick.
Hosted by the Middlesex County Board of County Commissioners and the county Department of Transportation, the event gathered municipal leaders, transportation planners, public safety officials, academic partners, and industry representatives to discuss efforts aimed at improving infrastructure, mobility, and roadway safety.

This year’s symposium focused on data-driven strategies and new technologies shaping transportation planning, including autonomous vehicles and DataCity, a county initiative that leverages advanced analytics to support traffic management, planning, and safety.

New Jersey Department of Transportation Acting Commissioner Priya Jain and NJ TRANSIT President and CEO Kris Kolluri delivered keynote remarks, providing updates on statewide transportation priorities, infrastructure investments, and the role of technology in enhancing regional mobility.
The program also featured breakout sessions covering street safety and accessibility, advanced transportation technology, and coordination among utilities and public agencies.
