Nashville SC was Lionel Messi’s latest victim in what has been a long list of clubs that he has terrorized over his sensation career. The goal in the second leg of the CONCACAF Cup was the 900th of as a professional, making him just the second player to ever reach that feat.
Messi reached his latest milestone from Fort Lauderdale, Florida in the seventh minute to give Inter Miami a 1-0 lead in the return leg of the round of 16. It was just the latest of a seemingly endless highlight reel complied by the Argentinian over the last two decades. It was the 81st goal he has scored with Inter Miami since joining the club in July of 2023.
Before his time in South Florida he laid the legacy of one of the greatest players the game has ever seen in Barcelona and PSG. He won eight Balon D’Ors during his time in Europe and scored goals all over the continent, but no where more than in Spain where he spent the majority of his career.
No team fell victim to Messi’s brilliance more than Sevilla. He scored 38 goals against the Andalusian side in all competitions. After that came Atletico Madrid with 32 goals scored against the Colchoneros. Valencia rounds out the top three with 31 goals conceded to the Argentinian magician. Basque side Athletic Bilbao saw Messi score 29 goals over the course of his brilliant career, and in a tie for fifth sit Real Betis and Real Madrid who conceded 26 goals to the Barcelona legend.
